The Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music have just announced their CREA Fellowships for 2020 in which I, along with Kerwin Young, have been awarded! From Gabriela herself, “CREA (Composers for Racial Equality in the Arts) was formed to provide mentorship support over 12 months to composers of color who are alums of GLFCAM with leading established BIPOC artists in the field, along with a paying commission.” The commission will be a new chamber piece for piano, violin, clarinet, and percussion, to be premiered by students of the Caine School for the Arts at Utah State University.
I am beyond honored to be awarded this fellowship and I look forward to conversing and learning from my CREA mentors during the upcoming year.
