“As a composer, my goal is often to find ways to intersect my various interests with one another and create art that is engaging and emotive. Modern pop production is a field I greatly admire and have been eager to experiment with. This piece presented the perfect platform to push the boundaries of vocal genres within contemporary classical music. The text is written by a longtime friend, Jeremy De La Rosa—the first piece of his I ever read. He uses such colorful and textural language that I immediately knew I wanted to expand on these ideas through the orchestration and use of electronic instruments.”
